This DCSF report presents the issues arising from a small-scale investigation focusing on pupils who are at risk of not converting a Level 4 in English, mathematics or science at Key Stage 2 into a Level 5 at the end of Key Stage 3. It also looks at the experiences and behaviour of pupils aged between 11 and 14 who ended Key Stage 2 doing well in English, maths and science, but whose progress slowed at Key Stage 3.
