Policy Frameworks for English Primary Education
- Description:
- The Primary Review is an independent inquiry which is looking at 10 major themes before publishing final recommendations in October 2008. This briefing provides an overview of the latest four Primary Review Research Reports published in February 2008 which suggest that the effects of an increasing government control of the curriculum between 1988 and 2007 has led to a narrowing of the curriculum and a decrease in the quality of English primary schooling. Guidance for Local Authorities

Childhood Wellbeing Qualitative Research Study
- Description:
- This study into children’s wellbeing for the Department for Children, Schools and Families looks into children's wellbeing and happiness to gain an understanding of the key reasons for the erosion of family life and the decline of good manners and appropriate behaviour by children. Women into Headship
- Description:
- The number of women head teachers in England has grown by 7% over the last five years to 13,800 female heads. This study for the National College of School Leadership by ICM Research provides detailed statistics of the factors responsible for the increase, including changing attitudes to work. ICM conducted 1,090 interviews with female teachers (573) and female headteachers (517) in school locations by telephone. Folder: Leadership Briefings Issue 28

Preventing Youth Crime
- Description:
- This report makes the case for a more therapeutic and family-based approach to youth offending, as opposed to the present, more punitive, system. Developing Financially Capable Young People

- This OfSTED report examines the development of personal finance education in schools and colleges. It presents the case for personal finance education and considers the knowledge, skills and understanding that young people should develop through personal finance education.
