JUDITH STEVENS looks at the importance of developing enabling environments, both indoors and outdoors, which support children’s learning. Although aimed particularly at practitioners in the Early Years Foundation Stage, many of the underlying principles apply to the learning of children of all ages. All teachers will beneft from understanding how the EYFS guidance supports effective practice in problem solving, reasoning and numeracy and how it links to the information on the EYFS Principles into Practice cards.
