Parent Support Advisor Pilot - Final Report

This DCSF evaluation by the Centre for Educational Development, Appraisal and Research reports that nearly 60 per cent of schools are now benefiting from 'parent support advisers' (PSAs). Following a two-year pilot scheme between the TDA and the DCSF to test out the role, 3,469 PSAs and similar roles now support 13,261 schools in England. Their expertise is designed to bridge the gap between parents and schools. More than 90 per cent of parents rated their PSAs highly – saying they felt respected, listened to and understood. PSAs also had a positive impact on attendance with persistent absenteeism decreasing by almost 25 per cent in secondary schools with their own PSA. Leadership Briefings Issue 4.07 (43)
