Tory education spokesperson Michael Gove enjoys good-humoured debate and is open and gentle in his manner. This is encouraging; it suggests that he might be a forward-thinking future education secretary who understands that teaching and learning need to be made active and relevant. Unfortunately Mr Gove also argues that traditional ubjects should be taught discretely.
