PTA UK Summer Parent Insight Survey 2015
This research by PTA UK, which represents Parent Teacher Associations, reveals 85% of parents want a say in how their child is educated, while only 18% felt that the Government listens to parents on what they want for their children’s education. PTA UK is recommending that the views of parents inform the role of Regional Schools Commissioners particularly in relation to the importance of their relationship with parents. What Works In Schools And Colleges To Increase Physical Activity
This Public Health England briefing shows that only one in five 5-15 year olds are currently achieving the recommended levels of physical activity (at least 60 minutes a day). It endorses the promotion of active travel, such as walking and cycling, as a route to tackling inactivity and has acknowledged the work of Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, in promoting active travel within schools. Insights Into Children's Mental Health And Well-Being
Heavy use of social media is as bad for children as bullying or a troubled home, according to this report by the Office of National Statistics. It found that 56% of ten to 15-year-olds spent up to three hours a day on social media and that youngsters who browsed the internet for more than three hours a day were much more likely to be anxious or depressed.
